Your Object – Your Story
The history of Oldenburg since 1945 is as diverse as the people who live there. That is why the new permanent exhibition on the city’s history includes empty display cases where you can tell your own story through an object of your choice.

The exhibition features a total of seven display cases of various sizes for this purpose. The “Free City” section has two empty display cases and explores the development of democracy in Oldenburg, covering topics such as protest culture, freedom of expression, and citizens’ initiatives.
The final exhibition area, “Oldenburg is…,” has a total of five such display cases and focuses on Oldenburg in the present day. What defines the city today? How do Oldenburgers live together, how do they spend their free time, and much more…
Your object can also be displayed in one of these display cases. As a rule, the object remains in the museum for four months. Accompanied by a label telling your story, it will be on view for museum visitors.

If you would like to participate, please send us the following information to mitmachen-im-smo@stadt-oldenburg.de and include a photo of the item. We will get back to you with a possible exhibition period.
